Schiedam – The oil company Conoco UK Ltd has awarded HBG Steel Structures – part of HBG, Hollandsche Beton Groep nv – the contract to supply a compression module destined for the Murdoch offshore complex, which is located approximately 180 kilometres north-east of Grimsby in the UK sector of the North Sea. Design and build of the module represents an investment in excess of €13 million.
After discovering a number of gas fields in the vicinity of the Murdoch platform, Conoco is investing in further expansion of this production unit. As part of this project, a second gas compression module is being installed on the compression platform. This unit will be fully assembled in the HBG Steel Structures assembly building in Schiedam. The module will be equipped with a gas compressor supplied from Rolls-Royce in the UK.
HBG Steel Structures is responsible for the detail design and for fitting out the module with all piping and process equipment, including electrical systems. Basic design is being carried out by Brown & Root Production Services, Aberdeen. The combined weight of the module will be around 900 tonnes. Installation on the Murdoch platform is scheduled for April 2003.
