Voorburg, the Netherlands – E.ON Benelux Services BV has submitted a proposal for the construction and exploitation of the so-called Near Shore Wind park (NSW).
This park will be constructed about ten kilometers off the Dutch North Sea coast near Egmond aan Zee and will consist of 55 windmills with a capacity of 100 MW on land. It will be the first wind park in the sea in The Netherlands. An important aim of the wind park is, apart from the generation of green energy, to gain knowledge and experience for use in future construction of windmill parks at sea.
In its company policy E.ON Benelux, part of E.ON, has always supported initiatives in the field of sustainable energy management and the responsible use of fossil fuel.
The monitoring of the effects on the environment, as described in the Monitoring and Evaluation Plan, is one of the most important parts of the project’s demonstration character and therefore takes up a prominent position in E.ON Benelux Services’ proposal. The proposal is both in line with the Dutch government’s aims in the field of sustainable energy generation as with E.ON Benelux’s claim “More Efficient with Energy”.
The project requires an investment of approximately € 200 million. The park is expected to be constructed in the summer of 2003 and will be exploited for a period of 20 years.
Parties such as HBG Civiel, Tebodin and Ecofys endorse the E.ON Benelux proposal. ABN-AMRO acts as financial adviser.
