Tebodin is involved in the upgrading, renovation and new construction of no fewer than 4,000 Shell stations across a large part of Europe. Tebodin has been involved in a similar operation in Central and Eastern Europe since 1997. The target was to complete 150 service stations a year over a period of five years. Now the contract has been extended to include the Benelux countries, Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
With its European network of offices and its experience in the establishment of retail outlets, Tebodin was the logical choice. The procedures for obtaining the necessary permits are complex. The requirements are often different from one country to another – for example, the use of twin-wall storage tanks or single-wall tanks, rules about forecourt paving and so on. The degree of involvement also varies greatly according to country.
The Gelsenkirchen office in Germany is responsible for project management for the approximately 2,200 stations in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The activities in the Benelux countries are organised from the Tebodin office in Spijkenisse [near Rotterdam]. This office is responsible for contract management, project management and some of the engineering on 1,250 retail outlets.
