HBG strengthens partnership with Asda

Continuing its ongoing partnership with Asda Stores Ltd, HBG Construction has been awarded a further two contracts with a total value of more than £12 million.

In Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, HBG is to build a new Asda superstore after demolishing a mill on the site. The store will provide 4,000 sq m of sales space in a total area of 6,500 sq m, which also incorporates a mezzanine level. The contract includes construction of a link bridge to the bus station on the other side of the River Calder. The £10 million project is scheduled for completion in May next year.

The second contract is for the renewal of the Asda store in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, and is valued at £2.5 million. The work, due for completion in the autumn, is to include redecoration, repairs and remodelling both within the store and in the car park.

Like all other HBG Construction/Asda contracts currently underway elsewhere in the UK, these projects will be undertaken on a full partnership arrangement with the client and other organisations in the construction team. These include project manager AYH plc, architects WCEC [for Rotherham] and PJMP [for Dewsbury], and quantity surveyor McLeod & Aitken.
