Rotterdam, The Netherlands – HAM, dredging and marine contractors, is a member of a joint venture consortium that has been awarded the NLG 4.7 billion land reclamation contract at Jurong Island in Singapore.
HAM's share of the 'Jurong Island Phase 4 & Tuas View Extension [option 2-1, contract JTC 46/2000] project is worth approximately NLG 750 million. The contract will start in July 2000 and is scheduled for completion in 2006.
The joint venture, in which HAM participates, includes Boskalis International, Dredging International from Belgium, Penta Ocean from Japan and Koon Construction from Singapore. Client is Jurong Town Corporation.
Work will involve the reclamation of approximately 1,500 hectares of land – mainly an industrial zone – to the southwest of Singapore. For this project approximately 500 million cubic metres sand will be dredged at sea and brought ashore. The contract also includes the construction of a double jetty to handle very large oil carriers and dredging of the access channels to a depth of 24 metres.
Twelve to fourteen large suction hopper dredgers will be permanently stationed on the project. HAM will deploy among other vessels the trailing suction hopper dredgers HAM 318, Geopotes X, Geopotes 15 and HAM 310.
