Nuttall enters into £125 million five-year alliance with Railtrack North West

Camberley – Edmund Nuttall Ltd has been awarded a five-year structures renewal contract for Railtrack’s North West zone, following competitive tendering.

The North West Structures Alliance, as it is to be named, with a potential turnover of £25 million each year, is to be executed by a joint team of Nuttall and Railtrack personnel, co-located at Nuttall’s project offices at Wigan, Lancashire.

The project will build upon the success of Nuttall’s three and a half year association with Railtrack in the North West. This commenced with the award of an Extended Arm contract to Nuttall in April 1997 which developed into a structures renewal partnership, and has resulted in over £45 million of maintenance and renewals works being carried out at over 2,500 locations to date. Over this time, Railtrack and Nuttall have developed an exceptional degree of trust and openness, wherein considerable benefits have accrued to both parties from the collaborative working techniques employed.

The new contract continues with the management, maintenance and renewal of the North West zone and West Coast main line stock, of in excess of 11,000 structures, and is designed to provide the alliance with the ability to plan works up to five years ahead.
