BAM wins contract major road project The Hague

Bunnik, the Netherlands, 27 November 2015 - The Municipality of The Hague will award BAM the contract for the design, construction and maintenance during fifteen years of the road project Rotterdamsebaan. This will be the new connecting road of approximately four kilometers length between the motorway at the Ypenburg interchange (A4/A13) and The Hague’s so-called Central Zone (Binckhorst-Centrum-Scheveningen). The contract value is over € 300 million. The construction will start in mid-2016. The first cars should be able to use the new road in the spring of 2020.

The Rotterdamsebaan will make The Hague and the The Hague region better accessible by connecting the A4 /A13 motorways and the city centre ring road.. As a result there will be a better distribution of traffic to and from the highways and less congestion on the Utrechtsebaan. The new connecting road will will start at the Ypenburg interchange, making it accessible from the A4, A13 and the Laan van Hoornwijck. Thereafter the road will be partially depressed in the Vlietzone, going completely underground by the current car park at Drievliet and the golf course. The underground section of the Rotterdamsebaan will be 1,8 kilometers in length and it will run under the Westvlietweg, Voorburg-West, the Forum Hadriani archaeological site and the Binckhorst harbour. The road will then re-emerge at the surface in Binckhorst by the Zonweg. There it will connect to the Neherkade.

The joint venture consists of BAM Infra and BAM’s German tunnel specialist Wayss & Freytag Ingenieurbau.
